First operation financially supported by TAAC.

« We are pleased to announce that this first operation lead by TAAC has been a success. On March 20th 2009 a cheque worth 3000 Euros was given to POH KAO after we ran a special offer whereby your donations were matched and therefore doubled. We wish to thank warmly everyone who has generously donated to POH KAO., stated the founders, Veronique Audibert and Claire Pham.

We also wish to thank warmly the donors of “The Animal Affinity Club” who through the work of the President, Romain Brasseau, and his team have matched the sum raised (3000 Euros) and also presented today a cheque for 3000 Euros to POH KAO.

The 6000 Euros that has been will be given directly to the POH KAO 2009 campaign which is under way in Cambodia. The campaign aims to provide the following:

• Cover the wage of the village teacher (500 Euros). She runs an outreach project educating children of how essential it is to protect wildlife.
• Finance new training projects teaching local people how to breed pigs, run a chicken farm or grow their own vegetables in an allotment (500 Euros per project teaching 20 families). These projects are primarily offered to the poorest who have next to no means of survival, and therefore rely on hunting. The projects for them will guarantee an income, improve their nutrition and their children’s health.
• Finance the drilling of two new wells, assisting the irrigation of gardens. (650 Euros per well)
• Help with the acquisition of vaccines and medicines for livestock. (150 Euros)
• And also allow the extension of this innovative program to four other nearby villages, financing the training of four new staff in charge of animal health, (400 Euros), and the recruitment of four new teachers (200 Euros). These new actions will optimize the successes and achievements over a larger territory in the primary tropical forest.»
